An interesting mix of Romulan politics and subtle space-born action. New characters engage with older, more well-established faces.
While the surprising last page puts the story into into some chronological perspective, the story's claim to be a prequel to the upcoming movie will obviously take some fleshing out in subsequent issues.
This is a good read for hard-core fans, or for those jumping back on the Star Trek wagon in time for the summer release of the film.
