Some new intrigue.

Okay, so I am a little embarassed to admit it, but I am starting to like this series. I was so down on it to begin with (and with good reason) but now it is starting to work.

The Billy Tan cover is really cool and the interior art by Ben Oliver is pretty good as well. Guggenheim has finally gotten some of the characters' voices down. Rockslide for instance is at his best when he is cracking "gay" jokes with Anole.

This issue spends the majority of the time looking at three characters is particular: Dust, Cipher and Ink. Ink's newly aqcuired Phoenix power has a number of the team worried. Level headed Jean Grey couldn't control the power. How can the hot head, new kid on the block do any better? Cipher literally just appeared on the scene, but Cyclops suprises everyone by announcing that she had been working undercover for him all along. Nobody is pleased by this revelation. The flashback sequences though, depicting Cipher's undetected interfernce in past X-events was pretty cool. Dust's storyline doesn't seem too significant despite the fact that she is dying. However, this all changes when Pierce makes her an offer she can't refuse. And all she has to do is break him out of jail!

This book has taken a nice turn for the better. I am now looking forward to the monthly installments.

Don't look forward too far, as Marvel plans to discontinue the series as of issue #12! I have grown to like the series as well, and can now say that I will miss it!
