In this issue The Spirit is recuing Ebony, kind The Spirit sidekick, from hoodlums that are using her as bait to ensnare our hero. Hines delivers in the writing by showing hoe much The Spirit cares for Ebony’s well being. The art keeps pace with the story and gives it the required atmospherics to put the reader in the middle of the action, like a good artist needs to do.
As always the back story enhances the experience of the comic. The story drawn in black & white renders a beautiful contrast to the main story and complements it extremely well.
This is the gem in the First Wave experiment, making it a successful contribution to the ongoing mythos of The Spirit.
