At first I thought it was just the artwork that bothered me on this book. After reading this issue I have realized that the writing is just as bad! Guggenheim's words are just as bad as Paquette's lines. Guggenheim's lame attempt at portraying Sam Guthrie's southern accent is so contrived I almost had to put the book down. And Rockslide has never been more stupidly written than he is in this book.
This was the final issue in the Donald Pierce storyline and to nobody's suprise, it was poorly executed. The story ends abruptly and so unnaturally that the death it reveals doesn't even matter. Dropping New X-Men is one of the biggest mistakes Marvel has ever made, and this creative team should be kept as far away from all things X as possible.
