Strong For a Change

I haven't been too impressed with this series so far. In fact, I was considering dropping it all together. This issue makes me glad that I didn't. It was insightful, entertaining, and flowed very nicely from start to finish.

Writer, Kieron Gillen does a nice job of capturing Hope's headstrong attitude, while still working within the confines of rich mutant cannon. So, it is nice to see her lash out at Kitty Pryde, but it is even better to see Pryde push back.

Artist Salvador Espin's work is a little plain, but I really enjoyed the way he rotated between the 5 lights while they were training. Espin's panels and Gillen's script here really helped develop the Lights in a short span of time.

More than anything though, I am glad the team found another emerging mutant. This one appears as though it may break all of the rules we've come to know over the years with regards to mutants. I'm excited to see how this chapter will play out.

Here's hoping that this is the start of some more exciting and forward thinking adventures for Hope and her band of Lights.
