In order to put this review in perspective you have to understand something. Outside of this issue, I own 2 Moon Knight comics. So, it would be an understatement to say that I know very little about the character. Strangely enough, this issue dropped enough back story references that I think I have a pretty good grip with what's up in Moon Knight's life.
The timing of this issue is slightly flawed; being it depicts events that occurred in previously released issues of Shadowland. As long as the events aren't too far removed from one another, I've learned to live with these sorts of "gaps".
Moon Knight has more on his plate than even he realizes. As he deals with the local enigma known as Shadowland, problems sneak up on the home front in the form of a villain named Shadow Knight. Without trying to sound like too big of a Moon Knight noob, this seems like a classic case of a guy just not being able to catch a break.
Talented Phillippino artist, Bong Dazo shows off his deft abilities, crafting a detailed storyboard of Moon Knight's escapades. Dazo's "no holds barred" lines fit both the Shadowland story and the character of Moon Knight like a dirty glove. I look forward to seeing more from this talented artist.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this 3 issue mini-series. But after reading issue #1, I am hooked. I can't wait to see Moon Knight's reaction when he finds out what happened at home while he was out investigating Shadowland.
