Surprisingly great read!

As many of you know, I'm a HUGE fan of TRANSFORMERS in pretty much any incarnation. For the last 3 months, an item I purchased for my Transformers toy collection has been calling out to me...asking...no...COMPELLING me to open it. So, I did what any other sane and rational person would do.

I did exactly what the toy told me.

The toy in question was the TRANSFORMERS: REVEAL THE SHIELD "BATTLE IN SPACE" 2-Pack featuring RODIMUS and CYCLONUS. I'm sorry, but the minute I saw this toy on the shelf of my local Wal-Mart a few months back, it was love at first sight. But there was another very cool reason I bought the 2-pack: an exclusive IDW TRANSFORMERS comic book inside the package.

We've talked about how toys and comics market and compliment each other on prior podcasts, and this is no different, except the fact that it was a NEW story, and it was pretty darn good.

Written by TF veteran Simon Furman, the story takes place during the events of the TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED FILM from 1986, which has become a cult classic to many fans. A basic story of fighting between Hot Rod (aka Rodimus) and Cyclonus...not much to tell. No earth-shattering revelations...just a fun comic story that reminded me of why I loved Transformers in the first place. No doubt about it. I'm a true child of the 1980's.

The fact that this comic comes packaged with action figures just screams that there aren't going to be as many of these in high grade floating around...and that's if they weren't a little damaged from being in the package already. You can find this 2-pack at many major retailers like TARGET, K-MART or WAL-MART, and you can get biographical information on this and EVERY other Transformers comic in existence on CCL. Simply visit ComicCollectorLive.com, go to "Library" and type Transformers.
