"Origin of the Ape-Man, Book 2: A Son's Vengeance"
Continuing the adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel "Tarzan of the Apes."
The story picks up soon after young Tarzan has defeated Bolgani with the aid of a knife he found in his father's cabin. As his prestige among the tribe grows, he also spends more time in his father's cabin, teaching himself how to read the books there, and learning why he is different from the other apes in his tribe. Eventually, he meets another man like himself, with tragic consequences.
"Baby of the Apes"
Reprinted from the Tarzan newspaper strip originally published Sunday, January 24, 1932. Tarzan rescues a baby ape from a crocodile.
"Prisoner of the Tharks"
Continuing the adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel "A Princess of Mars."
John Carter is taken to a Martian city, where he inadvertently kills one of his captors, thanks to his enhanced strength, though this is actually applauded by the other Martians there. He is left in an unguarded room, where he encounters a strange beast. Deciding to escape, he instead blunders into a monster's lair. All seems lost, but the mysterious beast he tried to avoid leaps to the rescue -- his first ally on this strange world.
