Anyone who has ever followed my comic book reviews knows that I love Brian Michael Bendis. Nobody writes witty banter quite like Brian. And even though this is a re-boot of the New Avengers title, Bendis has been making this team's dialogue dance for years.
The new New Avengers continue trying to get to the bottom of the demonic invasion in Central Park. Just when all seemed well with Luke Cage being demon free, the host demon jumps to Iron Fist, teleporting him and the Eye of Agamotto away.
Brother Voodoo, Stephen Strange and Daimon Hellstrom convene to try and determine the source of the demonic invasion. The New Avengers do what they do best, putting their fists into demon faces!
A very interesting sub-story unfolds involving Iron Fist and Stephen Strange's old master Yao, the Ancient One. Yao is in constant communication with an unseen force (which I believe to be Eternity) with regards to Iron Fist's mystical nature.
The last page reveal of the Ancient One bodes well for upcoming stories. If someone would have told me that the New Avengers would be dealing mostly with supernatural threats over the past year, I would have turned up my nose. To my surprise though, the stories have been good.
I can't wait to see where this inter-dimensional saga takes us!
