The quality of this comic adaptation of Peter S. Beagle's Last Unicorn is really the story of the art work that has been so meticulously rendered by Renae De Liz and Ray Dillon. There is probably no other story that is so favorably adapted by these two artists; truly a labor of love.
We can sense that there is a confrontation lurking between the two magicians in this story, a confrontation that will be played out in the coming issues, I would not know having not read the original novel or seen the movie adaptation.
We are yet to see the Red Bull, but it seems that this will happen in the next issue.
Amalthia, the female human incarnation of the Last Unicorn, seems to be destined to be attracted to Prince Lir, son of King Haggard keeper of the Red Bull.
For me the script is secondary to the artistic talent present in this comic series. In this instance, the art makes the story and holds it together for our enjoyment.
