Anyone who was anyone, made sure they read the first volume of Umbrella Academy when it came out in trade if they hadnt already read the comics before hand.
After the thrill and excitment of reading the first volume, 'Apocolypse Suite', I was pretty darn excited to get into reading this first issue of a new series for Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's extraordinary creation!
Now, having read Dallas #1, I would say that it would be best for those few that didnt read the first volume who want to read this, to go back and read the first volume, because most of the great panels and scenes in this book only work to their full dramatic effect if you know what went on in the first book.
For those of who did read it first time around, this issue was no doubt just as good as anything from the first amazing volume, wow.. I mean wow, this issue was just setting the playing field for the new series, we got to see what all the characters were doing now and how they were all coping after the events of Apocolypse Suite.
Artwork was brilliantly handled by Ba, who is a really unique and inspiring artist!
The end scene with no.5 was amazing and the last page really set things up for this series nicely!
Very good issue, some great dialogue and a great tone set in place for the new series!
