Philip K Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? #12 has a version of Vincent van Gogh’s The Screamer on its B cover illustrated by Moritat. The choice of illustration for the cover epitomizes the high artistic interpretation that BOOM! Studio has elected to follow in presenting the full novel in graphic form. The Screamer is interweaved in the text of this specific issue as part of Luba Luft’s (don’t you just love the choice of name) search for a humanity never regained. She must feel like The Screamer painting hanging in the museum, for she must know that her time as a sentient being is limited to the ability of her pursuers. The desperation of she must feel is reflected in that painting, making her probably more human the most. This is the feeling that Dick was to share with us and so well done in the Blade Runner movie interpretation.
This is a great issue of an amazing series adapting a classic Sci-Fi novel.
