The conclusion of the Korvac Saga

A great final issue to a ten part series that ran (sometimes in the background) through the Avengers. It pits the team, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy, against Michael Korvac and the daughter of the Collector, Carina, who have gained near infinite cosmic power. Reading it as a kid, it left a huge impression on me with many of the heroes being killed in some of the opening salvos. The big guns are also relatively powerless against them; at the end, the outcome hinges on the feelings between Michael and Carina.

The art is very good, drawn by Dave Wenzel and inked by Pablo Marcos. The cover is one of my favorites drawn by Dave Cockrum.

I'm a huge Thor fan, but given that Korvac was going to threaten Odin, Zeus, et al I don't think Thor could've beaten him. Maybe Carina since his hammer is utlimately what she used to kill herself.

I digress that Thor actually could have stopped them both, I think the story-arc ended flat. Iss 178 or future books never epilouge.....
