I'll start this review off by offending everyone. I've never cared for Ed Brubaker. I thought both Captain America and Daredevil were complete snorefests. Secret Avengers...quickly becoming a snorefest as well.
In many ways, I find these secret, conspiracy laden stories of underground elements controlling the world more unbelievable than the superhero in tights shtick! It just feels as though writers who dabble in this genre can make up whatever they want, and leave every single storyline hanging because that is what the spy-game is all about! Well it might be what the spy-game is about, but it certainly doesn't make for interesting writing.
There were a couple of things that helped save this book though. I enjoyed seeing the Prince of Orphans in action. I was a big fan of the Immortal Weapons, so it is nice to see this interesting character being used.
I also enjoyed seeing Ant-Man grow to save Shang-Chi. The Marvel Universe needs an active "Giant Man", being Pym almost never increases his size anymore.
I had to do a bit of research to try and figure out who John Steele was. The story calls him the first ever Super Soldier. Marvel wiki's turn up very little information and the mainstream wiki has a page dedicated to a real soldier named John Steele. But I guess this original Super Soldier is going to go after Steve Rogers. How original...
I'm pretty sure I am going to cut this title loose. Maybe one more month and then I will make my decision.
