So they gave us teaser images and we all knew that some one was going to die. That is was going to be some one important. Some one labeled a fan favorite. They where not kidding with all that hype.
If you don't want to know who falls then run away now and don't look back. If you are an old school X-Man fan you will might have had the same reaction I did when it happened. I have never been so ticked off at a comic book in my whole life...and I was reading Punisher when they pulled that Frankencastle crap.
The action is fast paced as Logan's team and Sam's team are both hurting from their separate missions. Having already lost one teleporter when she got blown to bits Nightcrawler and Rogue are porting across the country with Hope in tow trying to get her to San Fran. Bastion is hot on their trail and catches up to them as an exhausted Nightcrawler stops to rest. What happens next will shock some and mark the first major loss to the X-family (lets face it anyone else so far has been cannon fodder).
In an attempt to save Hope Nightcrawler is killed in battle but with his last act he is able to port Hope to the island before he passes.
I have never been so mad at a book that I had to put it down and walk away. Today marks the first time I did so. I could not finish the book for a good hour as I was to upset over Kurts death. If I feel this way you can only imagine what the fall out will be as Wolverine finds out on the last few pages that Kurt has died.
Kurt died a hero. He died doing what he felt in his hear and in his soul was the right thing. Of all the characters for the X-family to die I feel this one will have the greatest impact. He may have not been the strongest or the most powerful. But he held a special place in the hearts of the readers and his fellow mutants.
