It is unfortunate that Chris Yost put his name to this series, it is well below his usual standard of work. This three issue mini series had absolutely no bearing on the "Fear Itself" storyline whatsoever. This is unfortunate considering it stars one of Marvel's most popular characters.
After completing this series it appears to me that the Marvel brain trust had no intention of including Spider-Man in this event. Knowing that they couldn't really leave him out though, they whipped up this throw away mini series for him to appear in. Most unfortunate.
Spider-Man babbles on about hope and overcoming fear throughout this issue while battling the possessed version of Thing. Their battle takes Spidey into a hospital where; after a great deal of soul searching, he saves everyone there. Yes, it reads just as cheesy as I described it!
Yost's writing is more of an internal monologue than an interactive script. This makes the book beyond boring. Add Mike McKone's incoherent fight panels and you have a disastrous addition to the "Fear Itself" story arc.
I am rarely impressed by the way Spider-Man is used in big events and this is no exception. Don't wast your money on this series.
