I’m enjoying this series even though it has so many elements from The Lord of the Rings that it’s not funny. In issue #7 we have the group ferrying across the river to escape the forces of darkness that are pursuing them. The composition of the group is also reminiscent from the group that accompanies Frodo from Hobbiton. Aside from the fact that Robert Jordan used the mythology from Tolkien’s world there are different characters and different creatures that populate this world to make it interesting enough to entertain a fantasy reader.
My biggest complaint is with the art. The ink work is too heavy and the colors are dense most likely to compensate for the heavy inking. The layout of the panels is good and Bill’s lettering is clear and crisp.
