A good issue, better than the previous JSA One Shot from last week by a long shot. Peter Tomasi did a great job here on the first of two stories told in this issue, it was focused on David Reid who is Magog going to save his old army platoon 'Epsilon' who are in grave danger, and it retells his past career and origins along the way. This story by Tomasi is very touching when David meets his old friends of Epsilon platoon and is pretty darn gorey as well, really quite violent for an issue of Justice Society. However, this story is great nonetheless!
The second story is conciderably shorter than Tomasi's first story and is written by the infamous Geoff Johns. This brief story focuses on Starman and how he came to be right here, right now. It gives a brief look into his origins and birth and how he got his powerful and complex cosmos suit.
It is very interesting and ends in a thought-provoking way leaving you wanting more!
Great artwork in both stories, and great writting in both as well.
This issue is a must read for readers or fans of the Justice Society of America because btoh stories are actually about the current Thy Kingdom Come story at hand and both add to the pace of the story too.
Both stories are continued in next week's final JSA One Shot; 'The Kingdom' #1.
A top read, some brilliant backstory told here to great affect! Do pick this up!
