Too many details, not enough action

In her introduction, Gail Simone mentions the "(fascinating) tedium" that occurs in order to set up the missions and therefore the action sequences of this series. Unfortunately, I don't find the tedium the least bit fascinating in the last two trades, and there is LOTS of it.

There are actually two stories in this trade. One is an interlude dealing with Tara and her mom. This is spectacular. Almost. Steve Rolston's art on this story is fun and definitely better suited than in the very first arc. However, there are scenes where there is, literally, pages of French dialogue with no translation. All the other languages in this book are translated. Why force this dialogue, which is infinitely more important to the story, on the reader?

The second story is an interesting one of failure. Mike Norton does an amazing job with these three issues. I think he has now given me the perfect Tara Chace from a visual perspective. While the story is generally interesting, there is a LOT of set-up that I found tedious and boring.
