Unexpectedly Good!

If not for the finale of the Thanos Imperative, this book would have been my pick for read of the week. What a terrific issue!

What better angle to use to work the Young Avengers back into the spotlight than House of M? The connection between many of the Young Avengers and the House of M storyline is not easily overlooked. Wanda's supposed children are members of the young Avengers (Wiccan and Speed). Stature's father (Ant Man) was killed by the Scarlet Witch. So was the original Vision. The overlaps are uncanny.

Throw Magneto, Quicksilver, and the Avengers into the mix and you have yourself a sure fire adventure to calls up some nostalgia while creating new comic book suspense.

This book is air tight from first to last page. The art is fun to look at and Allan Heinberg has a feel for these characters unlike anyone else in the industry. Wolverine's little verbal attack on Wonderman and the ensuing upercut are worth the price of admission alone!

My only worry is the suggestion towards much bigger things in this story. Dr. Doom? Scarlet Witch? How can you have these two characters involved in a book and not have it be universe shattering? Here in lies my concern though, Young Avengers books are never universe shattering! I hope this is the expection to the rule, because we are all in for a treat if this is the case!
