This recent Wolverine story arc, "Wolverine Goes To Hell" has been everything that a good Wolverine storyline should be. Torment, suffering, unbreakable will and a Canadian sized bucket of testosterone!
Logan continues to struggle for his soul in the depths of Hell. The devil; at least I think it is the Devil, is finding particular joy in tormenting his newest resident. While above ground, a handful of Wolverine's friends try desperately to track down Wolverine's body, which has been possessed by a crazed demon, hell bent on hurting all of his loved ones.
One of Logan's former Alpha Flight team members Puck, reveals himself in Hell with the intention of motivating his fellow Canadian to keep fighting. This spurs on the ol’ "damned Canucklehead", who decides to take on Beelzebub himself!
Jason Aaron has done a nice job of layering the story. One story has Logan's doppelganger running into some resistance on the island of Utopia in the form of Colossus. Another depicts the Son of Satan gathering the Ghost Riders to help free Logan from Hell.
Jae Lee's covers fit the series like a glove and the interior art by Renato Guedes has all the grit necessary to tell a story in the underworld.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the feature story in the back called "Old Wounds". I'm pretty sure it is intended to be a little cryptic right now though, with all good things to be revealed in time.
Great story, whether you are a fan of the angry Canadian half-pint or not!
