What were they thinking?

I'll start with the good. The two very short back-up stories were a Finder story by Carla Speed McNeil and a Hero Happy Hour story not by Dan L Tayler. These were both fun, generally cute stories.

So, then there's the actual "Mortal Coils" stories. Two of them that ran maybe 8-12 pages each. I've heard of Mortal Coils. Seen them at cons. Read some general critical acclaim. Holy sweet sassy malassy, this was awful.

The second story was about some talisman and a chick who kept a random stranger from meeting the woman he was destined to fall in love with after showing him how happy they would be. No clue who these people were or why they were doing what they were doing though. The art was okay - a weak attempt at computer painting in gray tones.

The first story was about two women who fell asleep and would wake up in different places. One of the women may have been mentally challenged. I don't know. I didn't bother finishing the first story it was so bad. Artwise, I've seen better stuff in fan art sections of comic book message boards.

I just don't know what the these guys were thinking making this their FCBD comic. The purpose of FCBD books is to introduce people to a title and let them get a general understanding of the characters and set-up so that they may be encouraged to pick up a new issue or trade. This failed on every single level.
