It’s great to witness the start of an amazing creation that is Jack Kirby’s Forth World; to see the creative process unfold; track the twists and turns of linguistic acrobatics; hear generational voices speak to the wildness of the hippie counter-culture in every panel. The unique style, the originality in concept and the magnificent execution in the writing and illustration that Kirby brings to Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen is only rivaled by the great characterization and distinctiveness that came from the Age of Aquarius. The Newsboy Legion, The Outsiders, and the Whiz Wagon are first introduced in this issue.
After having successfully helped in the creation of the Marvels, he now turns to engineer a whole world for DC, adding his stamp to the DCU as it evolves in the years to come. Kirby’s contribution to comics is still being analyzed and commented on by fans and professionals alike.
This is where it all starts…
