Where to begin?
sighI guess I’ll start of with the art. No doubt about it, the artwork was fantastic!!! The book is comprised of two short stories, one is handled by Arthur Adams and the other is by Frank Cho.
Art Adams hasn’t lost his touch. He really has a knack for storytelling. Loved all of the “camera” angles used and the very expressive faces were leaping off the pages. With the art alone, you could tell that his Joe Fixit Hulk persona was exactly that, a different persona. This wasn’t just a Green hulk painted in grey defined only by the word balloons accompanying his lips, this was Joe Fixit, through and true. From his movements to his expressions, to the fact that even after the Banner transformation, he remained mostly fully clothed (
Joe doesn’t run around bare-chested and barefoot like the other Hulk personas, he likes his fine tailored suits.). So Thumbs up to Adams, I was visually riveted to every panel.
Cho, I love you. Seriously, who else could have been better suited to pencil a story with She-Hulk as the star? Frank draws a beautiful She-Hulk. Powerful and curvaceous. He also did a fine job with the other ladies in the story (
Thundra, Valkyrie & Maria Hill). More top notch work and great butt shots by Cho, but dude.. a
little less muscle definition on the thighs next time. ;) Action sequences were well handled, dynamic and loud. Great work.
Now… for the story. Jeph, I’m still mad at you for Issue #6. What are you doing to me?? First off, I wanna get something out of the way. It’s really not that I didn’t enjoy the stories.. they were great and very entertaining. They were a fun (albeit very quick) read, but what about the big picture Jeph?? Where do we stand with this Red Hulk character??? All this issue has brought me is more questions with little to know plot advancement. To top it off, you have the
cojones to bring in ANOTHER HULK?!?!?!?! We’re not done wondering why Green Hulk is dumb again and who the Red Hulk really is.. and you go ahead and throw another Hulk into the mix. Listen, I love Joe Fixit, but could you please give us something good to chew on before giving us a third serving of sloppy Joe??
Bottom Line.. Loved the art!! The writing was entertaining but minimalistic. I would recommend the issue like a cheap hooker to anyone who's just looking for a good time. She’s worth the 3 dollars lads, have at’er! But I still only give it
2 out of 5 stars as you’ll ultimately end up waking up the next morning in a strange place with a hangover and a burning sensation in your crotch.
