Why do other-dimensional creatures always have more magic than our magic-users????

In the first part, of a three part tale, we find the JLA hunting down an ancient cult. It's seems that they are set on releasing a creature from another dimesnion, hoping to gain powerful magic in exchange. Yeah, right....how many times have we seen or heard this story line. It's too bad that the first part of this story starts off weak, beacuse the cover and interior art are excellent. Sadly Chuck Patton did not stay on this series very long, or appear to catch on big anywhere else, his artwork is freaking awesome. So, I have to give this story a 3 star mark, and that is only because of the Hawkman and Green Arrow banter that most of us like so much.
