About X-Men: Deadly Genesis

*In the summer of 1975, the comics industry...evolved. The mutation responsible for this uncanny change is known as Giant-Size X-Men #1. This over-sized epic spun off a failing team title with (supposedly) little chance of survival, but the ideas introduced in this 68-pager have influenced the imaginations of generations. It sparked a creative revolution in comics and introduced some of today's most popular characters. Instead of a group of all-American teenagers, an international team was established, with members from Germany, Russia, Canada, Kenya, Ireland, Japan and the Southwest United States. This was an all-new team with mostly-new players.

With the disappearance of the first team of X-Men (Angel, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Havok and Polaris) on the mysterious mutant island being known as Krakoa, Professor X had only the escaped Cyclops to help train a new team to retrieve them, beginning an adventure we'd never forget as Nightcrawler, Colossus, Wolverine, Storm, Banshee, Sunfire and the now-deceased Thunderbird extracted their predecessors and defeated the "island that walked like a man."

Now, 30 years later, we revisit this mission and delve into a mystery with revelations so shocking, we may see the beginnings of a new revolution. The world has changed in the wake of the events of House of M. Now that the number of mutants on Earth has been drastically reduced, it's a much more dangerous world for our heroes with ever-watchful Sentinels, anti-mutant organizations brewing and their enemies waiting in the shadows for the right moment to strike. But some of the most dangerous threats will come from places and people we'd never expect--some will come from...the past.

What better way to celebrate the milestone Giant-Size X-Men than to give readers the greatest mystery in the history of the X-Men! ... This is the big one...the Deadly Genesis of things to come...a cloud so dark it will change the X-Men forever. *Source: Letter in the back of X-Men: Deadly Genesis #1
