Deadly Hunt

Another great read from the title that should be on everybody’s pull list. This issue takes place just slightly before the Dark Reign One Shot.

While Norman is in Washington reaping the rewards from his perceived role in the Secret Invasion, a select few have been left orders to "clean up " Thunderbolt Mountain. Now would seem not to be a good time to be on Osborn's bad side, as Songbird painfully finds out.

Osborn; one-by-one, dispatches of any and all Thunderbolts who do not buy into his “team” philosophy. Each team member who has ever disagreed with Norman is taken care of in their own particular manner. Radioactive Man is mysteriously recalled to China. Penance is committed to a high security mental hospital by Moonstone, who seems to be taking the helm while the Green Gob....I mean Osborn is away. She then turns loose the two most dangerous men on the team (Venom and Bullseye) to hunt down and kill Songbird. The cat and mouse hunt that ensues is classic. I need to give a seperate shout out to Francesco Mattina for his gritty yet gorgeous cover art. Thanks to some very dramatic art by Roberto De La Torre and some gutsy allowances by the editing staff, we are treated to some pretty honest story telling.

This story depicted Venom and Bullseye in their glory. I hope to see more of this team-up. Thunderbolts is one of my favourite books and it shows no signs of slowing down. I can't wait for the next issue, as the Green Goblin is due home!
