I wasn't so sure about picking up the following issue of this series as I though issue one got off at a very slow pace and didn't really excite me as I felt it also didn't give enough insight into the plot for a first issue.
But then after hearing great reviews of the second and third issue's of this series, I decided to pick them up and I'm glad I did!
This issue gets you really into the thick of the plot. Number 5 has flipped his lid presumably from all this time travel he does and has become a top-class but uncontrollable and mentally unstable killing machine.
Hazel & Cha-Cha who were hinted at in the previous issue as coming after Number 5 do so in this issue, and we get a great introduction too these 2 new bad guys.
Gerard Way continues to get the up most respect from me as he has created two very freaky and dark bad guys. He writes them full of black humour and their character design is incredibly imaginative!
This issue has a large focus on the relationship between the 'family' of the Umbrella Academy, with main focus on Kraken and Space-boy. It's written very well indeed, I think its easy to point out that you can only grasp and appreciate the trills this series gives off by picking it up and reading it for yourself.
Gabreil Ba produces another issue of outstanding artwork, he continues to remain as one of my favourite comic book artists and I'm glad in a way that he sticks to only drawing independent books. If he moved into the mainstream Marvel & DC spectrum, I think he would be underused and disposed of quickly and his talents would go a-miss.
This issue was great and ends on a real cliff-hanger! This is incredibly exciting stuff!
