My title of this issue's review is the spoiler of the secret identity of the villian behind the scenes...sorry. Great Gil Kane cover, despite not finding his signature or initials, I have come to appreciate his work over the years of comic reading. When I was younger the only work of his I was familiar with was what he did on the MICRONAUTS. Truthfully, I did not like his style at the time, but looking back on his work in the NAUTS, it was lacking a solid inker to make his work stand out. ThIS story starts out with the Avengers suddenly surprised by the arrival of Gorgon of the INHUMANS, who was to escort then to the great refuge for the wedding of Quicksilver and Crystal. The drama begins because no one was aware of the upcoming nuptials. Mr. Englart slipped some real life drama into this cross over with the FF. The Avengers were not invited but decided to attend, with Wanda to get Pietro to deal with her declared love for an android. I have to chuckle about this because of all the current political air regarding the definition of a marriage. An INHUMAN and Earth MUTANT WEDDING, and you even get some disgruntled Alphas protesting over their treatment by the ruling class of INHUMANS. (I am a little sad that this couple did not survive) Ultimately, Crystal becomes a cheating tramp( I foreget which writer did that) and Pietro feels rejected by the INHUMANS and steals the mists. Sorry, that isn't in this book is it. Omega the giant dormant robot created by MAXIMUS the MAD, (BLACK BOLT'S BRO) kidnaps the bride to be. Really what else could ruin this wedding. The FF, the Avengers, and the Inhumans all on high octane to save Crystal, and squash the Alpha primitive revolt. Black Bolt suspects his brother behind this wedding wrecking event, but find him unconscience in his cell. So who is the mastermind? YES, ULTRON-7 reveals himself to be ultimate wedding crasher in the finale of this issue. The story continues into Fantastic Four #150. Cross over back then were great because they weren't the norm for MARVEL. This wedding was well served with these titles x-over. A side note, Johnny Storm is sporting the red throw back uniform as homage to the original Torch. A back story is unfolding with the relationship between MANTIS and the SWORDSMAN, which will ultimately unfold into the GIANT SIZE AVENGERS, and yup a double wedding is coming. Englehart is known for his COSMIC story telling, but touches on some sensitive social issues in this plot. I enjoyed it, twice. First read back in early nineties when I was buying backissue at my favorite comic store in Boulder, Colorado. THE TIME WARP and now just recently for the heck of it. Let us not foreget the great pencils by Sal Buscema. I loved his work in ROM, the Spaceknight. So now I dive back into earlier works of my favorite MARVEL creators and say NICE JOB. Good read, good art, and a good conclusion over a couple of issues (UNLIKE WHAT THE CURRENT MARVEL BULLPEN DOES) sHEESH!!!
