I have a question regarding UK editions of Marvel comics in the 70's. Up until about 1984 the UK editions of Marvel's colour tites bore a different banner at the head of the cover page. "Marvel All-Colour Comics" instead of "Marvel Comics Group". Also the price is in UK currency and not US. Do these editions qualify as genuine variants? If so, shall I start adding mine? I have thousands, mind though.

I think they are true variants the same way the 30 cent / 35 cent issues are variants. They were published by Marvel before there was a Marvel UK. I think they should be added. If they do get the approval of CCL, you might have a big task ahead of yourself.

I'll throw a few up later then. It's 2.35am here.
BTW Marvel UK was well established by this time. Smilin' Stan came over in person to launch it in 1972, I think.

I think they are considered variants, but I don't agree with it. Marvel UK should be listed as it's own publisher along with these "pence variants".

I didn't know Marvel UK was that old. But judging by the covers posted by icarus, they weren't published by Marvel UK.

Marvel UK is listed as it's own publisher with several titles. under the Marvel UK banner. They all say Marvel UK on the cover somewhere.

I think UK versions should have their own title listing. Much like the way ComicsPriceGuide.com has theirs set up.

I think I need to clear up some gathering confusion here. The Avengers #160 I posted with the UK price tag and different banner is not published by Marvel UK. It is a Marvel US comic, printed in the US but with different cover markings for distribution here in the UK. I've posted the first page of the comic as proof. The indica reads word for word the same as the US cover price edition.

There were some Marvel stories printed as reprints in the UK in the late 60's by a company that licenced the material from Marvel US. But this title, Mighty World of Marvel was the first official Marvel UK release in 1972. Consisting of reprints from the Silver Age Marvel stories of Hulk, Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four.

This is a Marvel UK comic.

I disagree. This looks like the same comic, same cover, but with just a price variant. I think it should be entered as such.

Enter "Marvel UK" in the publisher search and you will find 117 cover titles listed there.
