Should have waited a few weeks.
I love Batman and I so much wanted to love this story, that said there are a few problem with these books: the titles all interlock but don't follow the story order of the interlocking covers. The covers connect starting with Batman & Robin, Red Robin, Batgirl, & The Outsiders. the order you need to read is B&R, RR, Outsiders, BG. I can only assume next week Carwoman will connect to Commissioner Gordon and then the following week to Oracle and Ra’s Al Ghul. My problem is the stories don’t connect in that order, it was my mistake not to buy the Outsiders so I guess I gotta go back and pick it up to finish this story properly but even then there not gonna connect properly.
**Warning these issues should really be read after you read Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #6 (Which has not been released yet) According to DC’S website Return #6 doesn’t hit shelves until 11/10/10**
Now as far as Batgirl’s story, it was good as with the previous stories Vicki Vale is involved and as always this Lois Lane clone is doing what she does best being a top notch reporter that was oblivious that the man she was sleeping with is really Batman. That’s just a bit of the story, the meat and potatoes of the story deals with Stephanie meeting up with the “mystery” bad guy. I can’t say who it is because the timing on these issues is way off, they shouldn’t have been released until the end of the month or early next month. We see some glimpses back on Steph’s time as Spolier and short lived time as Robin, she really just wanted Bruce’s approval, it seems like since her dad was crap she wanted to be the like the rest of the Bat family and be excepted by The Batman.
As it’s Batman, and this is a gateway for the return of the one true Batman I’m gonna give it a 3 out of 5 as it’s the weakest of the Return stories released today (minus Outsiders since I didn’t get it)
3 out of 5.
