Avengers Academy is under rated. It is that simple. This is a book about super hero's with flaws. About the possibility of potential and the trappings of a second (or third) chance.
While the rest of the Marvel U is slowly being dragged into the events of Fear Itself any card carrying member of the Avengers is knee deep in a bucket of hurt.
Still dealing with events from the last few issues the students of the Academy are still learning to be hero's and to fight their insecurities. Learning how to not make the same mistake twice and dealing with their own fears about what the future may hold for them.
This is not the most ground breaking or earth moving comic you will ever read, yet if you have been with this book since the start then this book is deeply satisfying. It feels like that "moment" these characters need to prove to themselves and their peers that the choice to give them a second chance was worth it.
My opinion of Hank Pym grew a little more with this issue as you see a man as commited to the Avenger cause as he is to his students.
This series is a work in progress and one that I am happy I around to enjoy.
