In this Armageddon 2001 crossover, Waverider looks into the futures of Lobo and Vril Dox.
Finding Lobo out on L.E.G.I.O.N. business, it doesn't take Waverider long to realize that this isn't the man he's after.
After leaving Lobo, Waverider heads off in search of Vril Dox. On the way, Waverider recalls the purpose of his mission, to locate the hero who will become Monarch.
After arriving at L.E.G.I.O.N headquarters, Waverider discovers that Dox has been expecting him and ends up trapped in a time-cage. Seeing no other option, Waverider explains his mission to Dox. With Dox's permission, Waverider looks into the L.E.G.I.O.N leader's future. The future he sees shows Dox falling under the influence of the Computer Tyrants of Colu and becoming a vicious tyrant seeking to control the universe.
Seeing this possible future, Dox is faced with the critical decision that will lead him towards or away from its path.
