Continued from Avengers (1963) #387.
On A.I.M. Island, Captain America faces the reinvented M.O.D.O.K., and with the reality-bending energies at play, finds that he has his long-dead sidekick, Bucky Barnes at his side.
As the Avengers' multi-pronged invasion to take the Island down advances, they find that all the A.I.M. Agents they face are, in fact, Adaptoids, and Alessandro Brannex is the Super Adaptoid.
The Red Skull makes a play at making the island his, while M.O.D.O.K. tries to contain the source of the energies, which seem on the verge of blossoming with disastrous results.
Cap gets taken captive by Superia, who offers to cure Cap of his malady... for a price to be named. Cap recognizes the secret identity of Superia's accomplice, Snapdragon as Rachel Leighton, formerly his student, Diamondback.
