"What If Jane Foster Had Found-- --The Hammer of Thor?"
Stone Men from Saturn stealthily descend from the clear blue sky over Norway. They are spotted by vacationing Americans, Donald Blake and his co-worker, Jane Foster, who are in turn sighted by the aliens.
Panic overcomes the pair as they flee the scene. The two become separated when Blake loses his walking stick. Jane makes an attempt to retrieve it for the man she secretly loves, but only ends up wandering into a secluded cave.
Trying to find her way from the cave to rejoin Blake leads Jane into an extended chamber, where she finds only a wooden stick and a blocked exit. Jane tries vainly to shift the boulder blocking her exit, but it doesn't budge. Not one inch.
A fit of pique and petulance contrives the nurse to strike the stick against the boulder in frustration. The cavern is filled with mystical energy which transforms her into a female incarnation of Thor, the God of Thunder.
Jane seizes upon the memory of a Norwegian acquaintance's name, "Thordis". This appellation would now seem fitting for her. So Thordis it is, who rescues Don Blake from the terror of the Stone Men and smites them soundly.
In the golden realm of Asgard, Loki is free once more to plot with malice aforethought. Frequently shunted to one side by his step-father, Odin, in favor of Thor - his blood-son, the trickster has festered intense enmity for all things Asgardian.
Loki uses his magical abilities to locate Thor's hammer. When they face each other on Midgard, Loki is stunned to see "Thor" is now a female. Thordis hurls him back to whence he came, via Mjolnir.
The God of Lies quickly hatches a plan upon his return to Asgard to stoke the wrath of Odin when the All-Father finds out what has become of his intended legacy.
