Castle Grayskull is considered to be the most recognized and memorable playset of the original Masters of the Universe toy line.
According to Masters of the Universe canon, the castle was named after an ancient King and hero of Eternia. Castle Grayskull contains the secret power of the Eternian Elders as well as ultimate universal power. It is for this reason that the evil Skeletor wants to use his power to unlock the secrets of the Castle and gain control of Eternia and the Universe.
When King Randor's son Adam raises his mystic Power Sword and invokes the power inside Castle Grayskull, he transforms into He-Man: the most powerful man in the universe!*
The Castle is guarded by an ancient Sorceress, who can only appear outside the walls of the castle as an eagle named Zoar. The Sorceress also helps guide He-Man in his many adventures. While Castle Grayskull was considered the Sorceress' home, both the Sorceress action figure and Zoar creature were sold separately.
Castle Grayskull opens up to reveal a playset for the Masters of the Universe characters. The Castle comes with weapons rack with weapons, throne chair which activates a trap door, elevator, ladder, Eternian flag and "Jaw Bridge" which can be opened and closed.**
The playset also came with instructions and sticker sheets.
*COLLECTOR'S NOTE: In the 2002 incarnation of the Masters of the Universe line, a new electronic version of Castle Grayskull was produced which gave children more realistic "magical" play.
**COLLECTOR'S NOTE: The Talon Fighter vehicle came with a small accessory called Point Dread, which can be used to make the largest tower of Castle Grayskull taller or used on it's own as a perch for the vehicle which resembles a giant bird.
