Written by Dan Watters with interior art by Andrei Bressan and Adriako Lucas, DESTRO is one of 4 mini-series published by Skybound Entertainment that connects iconic long-time Hasbro franchise's G.I.JOE and TRANSFORMERS into a new shared world called the "Energon Universe". Combined with new characters and situations created and written by Robert "The Walking Dead" Kirkman in an all-new series called VOID RIVALS, the Energon Universe titles take these classic franchises and give them the twists found in modern storytelling...making for a dynamic epic for both new and old fans to enjoy.
The Enemy Weapons Supplier named Destro was originally an action figure released in 1983 as part of the G.I.JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO 3 3/4" action figure line. Despite being one of the bad guys, Destro was one of the more popular action figures in the line...perhaps due to his unique character design and shiny "metal" mask. He was featured in both incarnations of the G.I.JOE animated series, the original comics published by Marvel and his likeness was used on G.I.JOE licensed children merchandise such as coloring books and t-shirts for over a decade. Over the years, Destro's origin story, once shrouded in mystery, have revealed a legacy dating back centuries and given the character a unique family legacy which provides understanding and back-story to explain the mysteries behind his metal mask.
*James McCullen Destro XXIV is the man behind M.A.R.S. Industries, the undisputed leader in providing high-tech weapons to world powers…for the right price.
