*Over 60 years ago, the alien “wild card” virus was unleashed over New York City, changing the world forever. Most of the people exposed to it drew the Black Queen, and died horribly. Some unlucky souls drew the Joker, and were monstrously disfigured. Only a lucky handful drew the Ace, which gave them strange supernatural powers.
Unfortunately, the rest of society has not always embraced those afflicted by the virus, and the New York City slum known as Jokertown is one of the few places where they are free to live their lives.
But not all Jokers are compassionate to others who are like them...
And not all Aces are heroes…
