Johnny Blaze is wounded by the police in the Arizona desert after charging their roadblock. He loses control of his Chopper bike and crashes.
Linda Littletree lies comatose, but her father suspects it is as a result of demonic possession. Linda's boyfriend, Sam Silvercloud has an idea to call in the exorcist, Daimon Hellstrom to cleanse her soul of evil.
Satan himself has possessed Linda, still with the intention of claiming Johnny Blaze's soul.
Blaze becomes the Ghost Rider at night in his hospital bed, but has to excuse himself from the premises before any of the staff see him in this state.
Bart Slade takes it upon himself to keep Blaze's Cycle Show running by attempting a record-breaking jump over Copperhead Canyon. The attempt ends fatally in failure.
Arriving too late to avert the tragedy, the Ghost Rider ushers Roxanne Simpson from the scene. He has no choice but to flee from the police again, but fears what will happen to a critically injured Johnny Blaze when he changes back, come sunrise.
