"The Mage and the Monster!"
When the Ankh symbol appears on Stephen Strange's forehead, it is with grim portent that he is nearing death. Such is the case now in his Sanctum Sanctorum, after a vicious onslaught from a possessed Ghost Rider.
The outside world's inkling that something untoward occurs, is an unearthly glow surrounding Strange's Greenwich Village residence.
Across town doing mundane shopping, Strange's lover, Clea senses his desperate plight. She arrives home to find the way blocked by police barricades. A rather chauvinistic officer patronizes her to keep away, but Clea resists the temptation to turn him into a frog - or something equally repellant by simply levitating him out of her way.
Inside, she also senses the aura of Dormammu, her uncle. The situation looks grave for Strange, although he has loosed his astral form to occupy the Ghost Rider's mind.
Strange learns the tragic history of Johhny Blaze through his memories, but falls under attack by Dormammu's own ethereal essence.
