"Deathrace!"
En route through Utah, the Demon biker reflects on an earlier endeavor. Johnny Blaze had been enjoying some time alone in the wilderness, before an unexpected transformation to the Ghost Rider. Reasons for the change become clear when the avatar of Death appears before him on the desert road.
The spectre's appearance mirrors the Brimstone Biker's own, perhaps in mockery or tribute. The persona of Johnny Blaze, who was still dominant, harbors doubt that he is in the presence of that eternal unknown fear.
Death challenges the Ghost Rider to three races. The first; down five miles of road. An innocent biker, Richie Petrillo will be placed in mortal peril if Death meets him before Blaze on his custom-made Skull Cycle. No contraption built by man can outstrip pure elemental force. Death wins. Blaze is left in no doubt that he indeed faces the irresistable, inevitable, icon that is pure Death.
Next race is a cross-country affair. A little girl seperated from her parents wandering around in the dark will be Death's next victim if Blaze can't beat him. Johnny has to use all his guile and stunt skills to thwart the Death rider.
Final race, where the stakes are significantly higher. Blaze is to reach a mountain peak, without Death touching him. Ghost Rider blanches at the thought of a veritable fight for his life. What unfolds next puts challenge to the paradox, can you really cheat Death?
