The story begins with the 2 heroes displaced in each other's universes. Parallax rationally is trying to recruit Surfer and Thanos with Kyle towards their own ends. With a dimensional rift open, Parallax and Thanos are at opposites when Thanos's real goal is discovered. Meanwhile Surfer and Lantern fight through usual hero 'misunderstandings'.
