"Devil in Response"
*Christine Spar is a reporter for the New York Times, who had written on the fiend Grendel (see Grendel: Devil by the Deed). She and her son Anson are invited by her friend Ginny Anastasi to see a Kabuki show, featuring the lead performer, Tujiro. They all have an opportunity to meet Tujiro backstage after the show, and later, Anson goes missing. The police are no help, and time passes, and Christine gets desperate. She steals Grendel's costume and weapon from the museum, and dons them to begin the hunt for either her son or the villain who took him. Elsewhere, the moment the costume is donned, Argent the Wolf senses that Grendel has returned.
