"The More Things Change..."
Bruce Banner is under close observation by Doc Samson, Betty Ross and Rick Jones as his merge back into the Hulk's body causes unexplained and odd transformations. Showing some signs of intellect, the Hulk breaks free of his bonds before Samson can expose him to another nutrient bath. To his friend's horror, Banner literally reaches out from the Hulk's body in an attempt to kill himself and end the menace of the Hulk for good. Chaos ensues, and the Hulk falls into the nutrient bath at the same time Rick Jones is shoved in by Thunderbolt Ross. The bath does cause the green-skinned goliath to disappear, but leaves a smarter and GREYER version of the Hulk in his place.
