"How Joe Became World Champ"
Joe, on a military transport ship, is asked to tell the story of how he became the Champ. He tells of how he worked in Knobby's clothing shop, and was swindled by thugs. Knobby is ruined, and later hears of a fight promoter looking for a candidate to take a dive for his fighter, the World Champion. Knobby signs Joe up for the fight. 10 pages.

Joe enters the ring for the first time against the World Champion. He is being beaten badly until Knobby tells him a white lie, calculated to get Joe angry. Joe knocks out the champ with one punch, becoming the new World Champion. 8 pages.

"Jerry Puts On the Gloves"
Jerry accidentally bumps into a sailor on ship, and has words with him. The disagreement ends up in an exhibition boxing round, where Jerry is out-classed by his opponent. Jerry hangs on to a draw, but earns an enemy. 11 pages.

A Joe Palooka Short Story
Mrs. Palooka, upon receiving a birthday card from Joe, tells the postman a story of when Joe was 7, and on a mission to buy his mother a gift, aided a boy who was being bullied. Joe spent the gift money on replacing the boy's ball, destroyed by the bullies. 2 pages.
