"March of the Dead!"
You didn't think the hero could die in the last reel, did you? Now that's cleared up. Ecoutez! Allons-y!
Prince of Helium, John Carter is held pinned by moving skeletons on all sides while an entranced Tars Tarkas seeks to do him grievous bodily harm. Being a master combatant and strategist, which comes with eons-old experience, John manages to turn the giant Thark's strength against him and neutralize his immediate threat.
There are still skulls a-plenty to be smashed and crushed before Sola is found cowering down a dark crevice. As Carter rescues the giant female Thark, she mumbles a lugubrious soliloquy of self-pity. They are observed in the distance by that decrepit deviant; who does have a name, by the way.
Back in Helium, even though he made stringent efforts to be away from the place, Tars Tarkas receives the finest medical attention. His condition, however, baffles the doctors present.
John has unfinished business with the skeleton army. Before he and Kantos Kan reach the tower of skulls by air they are halted by the spectacle of the skeletal squadron on the march towards Helium. JC and KK are overcome and dragged along with the skeletal horde's advancing cortege.
Gates are rammed and defenses mounted, but Red Men fall ineffectually, just like Jasoomian flies. The villain du jour, Zhuvan D'Ark, explains why he's bent on a quest for revenge for an ancient infraction. D'Ark prayed to darker gods to grant him the means. He now has the power to accomplish this. Helium's great towers begin to crumble all around.
