"The Master Assassin of Mars-- Chapter 11: Night of the Long Knives!"
It was a night that will live forever in memory for infamy, glory and tragedy. The Guild of Assassins grew their numbers sufficient enough in size to mount a confident coup against Tardos Mors and his royal coterie.
At the genesis of the attack was an infiltration by hand-picked Assassins placed within the upper echelons of Helium's military. One such; Surbus, soon became surplus to the Assassin cause at the tip of Kantos Kan's blade.
Assassins, know ye this; any man with the brass baubles to intrude on Mors Kajak and his lady wife upon an evening should be prepared to receive a dagger between his ribs.
Droves of Assassins next arrived in disguised fleet ships. They wasted no time dispensing their bloody business. In the subsequent massacre nobody is spared. Even the blood of innocent infants flowed an unfettered red reservoir in the nursery.
Helium's rightful rulers and their heirs proffer resistance, but faltering. Timely arrival of Helium's greatest hero, the Jasoomian John Carter, turns the tide of battle favorably towards the status quo. Not only, but also, the thunder of Thoat hooves bearing savage Tharks into the melee.
Tharks do what Green Men of Mars do best; slaughter Red Men of Mars. Assassins are butchered, tout de suite. Helium can breathe easily again, or so it was thought.
Mordin, Master Assassin of Mars still remains a viable threat. He makes his menace tangible by firing a Radium pistol into the massed crowd of Heliumites. One luckless bystander is Tara, wife of Mors Kajak and mother to Dejah Thoris. John Carter's attempt to avenge her ends up falling flat on his face.
