"Zenobia"
Freed by Zenobia from the dungeon, Conan and his benefactor try to navigate the bowels of the palace to freedom. But monsters stalk the dark, and Zenobia proves herself again to be a strong ally. Elsewhere, Tarascus's trust of his wizard Xaltotun starts to erode, and he takes steps against the magician, who lies in lotus-induced sleep. Conan makes good his escape, and wounds Tarascus in the process, but must leave Zenobia behind, vowing to return for her. The secret that Conan is not dead, however, is out of the bag.
