Comic book adapation of the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" - As Indiana Jones' search for the Golden Idol of Fertility comes to a screeching halt (thanks to his French rival, Belloq), Indy returns home empty handed. Indiana Jones and his long-time friend Marcus Brody are approached by two Federal Agents who inform the pair that the Nazis have discovered the ancient city of Tanis. Amazed, Jones and Brody inform the duo that Tanis is one of the long-thought resting places for the Lost Ark of the Covenant. Indiana Jones travels to Tibet and visits Marion Ravenwood, a long-time female 'acquaintance' who holds a medallion in her possession that can help lead them to the Ark. After narrowly escaping a Nazi named Toht who tries to seize the medallion from them, Indy and Marion fly to Cairo, Egypt. The pair meet up with Sallah, an egyptian digger of some repute in the region. Again escaping Nazis, Marion is believed to be killed, but is being held captive by the Germans, who now have teamed up with Indy's arch-enemy Belloq to find the Ark. Discovering the Germans are digging in the wrong place in the desert, Indy and Sallah discover the Well of the Souls, where the Ark has been hidden for centuries. Belloq and the Germans discover Indy's sneaky play for the Ark, and attempt to seal him (and Marion) in the Well of the Souls forever. Indy and Marion escape and Indy makes a desperate attempt to retrieve the Ark on horseback, and succeeds in intercepting a Nazi cargo truck which holds the Ark inside. Leaving Egypt on a renegade pirate ship piloted by Captain Katanga, Indy and Marion (after a brief romantic interlude) are then intercepted by the Nazis and the Ark is stolen from them again. Jones sneaks aboard the german U-Boat, and disguises himself as a Nazi. Belloq, Toht, and the rest of the german landing party prepare to open the Ark during an ancient Jewish ritual. Indy breaks off from the party and steals a bazooka. Threatening to blow the Ark 'back to God', Indy is talked out of destroying the artifact by Belloq, who reminds Jones that his nature curiousity for historical relics would never let him destroy something as sacred as the Ark. Jones surrenders his weapon and is taken into custody with Marion. They are forced to bear witness as Belloq, Toht and the Germans open the sacred Ark as a nervous German army looks on. As the awesome power of the Ark is unleashed, the entire German landing party, including Belloq and Toht are destroyed, leaving Indy and Marion alone with their treasure. When the companions return home with the Ark, the government keeps the Ark for themselves, assuring that the artifact will be studied by "top men".The Ark is crated up and taken to a mysterious warehouse and stored for purposes that have yet to be revealed.
