*She is nearly as old as civilization itself. And over the millennia, the legend about the vampire known as Purgatori have been as many as the sands, and as varied as the stars.
In some tellings, she is merely a bloodsucker, a bestial creature who prowled the alleys of imperial Egypt preying on the friendless, the drunk, and the slow of foot. In others, she is a vampire goddess, whose profane ambition led her to sip from veins of the gods themselves. Some say she survived for centuries, flouting the demons of later and greater ages - Lucifer, Dracula, Death Herself. Others, that she commanded a vampire army bent on unholy conquest. And there are a few who whisper that she walks yet among us, and that the world we know is hers, and long has been.
Herein, we begin a retelling of one legend of Purgatori, Some aspects of it will be similar to others you have heard: some, as surprising as the crimson one herself. *Source: Purgatori #1
